Welcome to the Angelo Civic Theatre!
If you prefer slow paced drama, Dearly Departed definitely is not the show for you.
If you are dying to experience a fast-paced, wacky comedy, the Angelo Civic Theatre IS the place to be the next two weekends. The production flows briskly from scene to scene to introduce the eccentric, lovable, dysfunctional Turpin family and friends—Bud, Ray-Bud, Raynelle, Lucille, Junior, Suzanne, Marguerite, Royce, Delightful, Veda, Norval, Reverend Hooker, Nadine, Clyde, and Juanita. Their various personal problems seem to overshadow daddy’s passing—the widow wants to inscribe "Mean and Surly" on her dearly departed's tombstone, for example.
The Turpins cope in their own ways: some through faith, some through food, others through drink. In the end, the family and their friends come together to help each other through their personal struggles and the eventual funeral. Dearly Departed is honored to have first time Director, Casey Baccus at the helm. Assisting him with this production are stage managers Suzy Roberts and Ashley Bacuus.
As with all Angelo Civic Theatre productions, every member of the cast and crew is a volunteer from our community. They work tirelessly to ensure every element of the show is ready for opening night.
Dearly Departed opens Friday, September 26 and closes October 4th, with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 28th. Please note this show will only run for two weekends.
